Literature Text

She wonders, with half-closed eyes
And sighing smile less soul
What wondrous world eludes her
She lays down unkempt hair and rosy cheek
And a single saline stream
Finds its way to starched cotton and down

A vision of white gold and glitter
A raindrop in slow-motion
A smile; seeking solace in a face
An upturned eye, shining in moonlight
Waiting in that endless moment
Of fear and hope and love.

A dream of past dreams.
When dreams were but a method
And loneliness an ancient fear.
A dream, so real she tastes the sweet
Honey-tinted air in which she sees
In her wishful hand, a sparkling light

Another tear, as dimming silver glow
Gives way to salt-stained pillow
And swirling light grows still
The eyes close. Her trembling hand opens;
Uncurling fingers show a glint of gold
A shining remnant of shattered love.
A broken engagement, a tear-covered ring that is nothing but a memory of what was to be. Some things will follow you for life, some things will forever leave you wondering "what if?", and this is one of those things.

Hm.... not my kind of proze... it's so... pretentious... so much like my own attempting to reach out and failing miserably. Does that mean this piece doesn't matter? No, that's not my point. Ah well... we all have different tastes... no honey for me.
